"The Wire"

The Wire Bra

The wire bra was designed in the 1500's
to restrain women's breast.
"weird", I thought, "as men always find
a way to restrain us." Disclaimer no designer's
name was credited with this design.
In 1893 MarieTuex coined the wire bra as a
breast supporter.
By 1907, the word Bra made its way to mainstream.
In 1912 Oxford Dictionary officially
accepted the word Brassiere as propper.
It would not be until 1913 when the Warner Lingerie company would accept a design by Marie Phelps as the standard bra construction that we know today. Even more astounding, is that it would take another 15 years to assign sizes A-D to this construction. 15 years with the same bra! Are you nuts?

It’s a thong thing

Let's talk Lingerie

It's a Thong thing

The thong was first created as a
novelty item in 1939.  "
Mayor LaGuardia in his wisdom to create
some sort of modesty directed the
parlour dancers to cover up "wear undies
The ladies chose to wear this novelty item.
Thus bringing the new panty design main stream.
No designer accepted credit for the panties.
 In 1974 designer #RudiGernreich was
the first designer to accept credit for this design.

History of the panty

Let's talk Lingerie Happy Friday

Today LeoraLee ia talking about Panties History very interesting.
What's your favorite style of panties?
I do enjoy a high cut brief.

History of Panties

history of pantiesSOURCE
Underpants or drawers, known colloquially as "panties," were first worn during the Renaissance for function but were also used as a chastity device. They were described at the time as "helping women keep clean and protecting them from the cold, they prevent the thighs being seen if they fall off a horse. These drawers also protect them against adventurous young men, because if they slip their hands under their skirts they can't touch their skin at all" (Saint-Laurent, p. 65). As a result of their direct contact with the female genitals, underpants were considered the most risqué of garments, so much so that it was considered almost more immodest to wear them than not, as they not only concealed but also drew attention to the vagina. Thus, until the mid-nineteenth century, they were primarily worn by prostitutes and by little girls.

Let's talk lingerie care

Happy  Friday
Let's talk Lingerie

How do you take care of your delicates?
Do you gentle cycle machine wash?
Do you hand wash in #Woolite,
#CastileSoap or just use what's on hand
I myself uses #CastileSoap on gentle cycle
I do prefer to use the lavender scent.
It leave my delicates smelling lovely
and the fabrics are so soft when dried.
Using the correct detergent keeps the color bright
your delicates last longer.

Let's talk and share how we take care of our delicates.

Happy Friday
"Let's talk Lingerie"

Ladies how do you wash your bras?
One of the best ways is in
A lingerie bag.
It protects the closures, the adjusting slides
and the wire.
Hang dry and they last much longer and the color stays brighter.
These bags are also great for stockings and socks.

Choosing sleep wear

Let's talk Lingerie

So ladies what do you sleep in
And why
Silk or cotton gown
Two piece tap pant set
Seasonal pajamas
Or sexy teddies
I choose to sleep in seasonal pajamas
Which is flannel in the cold months
And silk and Indian cotton in the cooler months.
I do enjoy a two piece silky tap pant and camisole
in the summer months.
What's your choice.
