Hi how are you doing in these changing times?
May I say we all thought @Covid19 was the big tragedy of the year. That was  the worst up to date, then we get black lash into the #blacklivesmatter madness. I pray we are all staying safe.
Even NYC is opening up I will be staying in my #nospendonfabric2020 journey.
From my #memademay2020 my quilt is on the way to be completed by December. #quiltusa @nationalquiltercircle. @leoraleelingerie

Hi everyone here's another #nospendonfabric2020 post. The pic is a sheet of my Dad who past late 2017. As my sister and i were clearing out his bedroom i brought home maybe 5 sheets I thought were lovely. This is item #2 of #memademay2020 my #circularskirt. How are you guys doing with your list. I'm almost done my #menadenay2020. There are 2 items I may not finish because I need lining. As I can get to a store I will post my complete list.

Singer sewing machine

Hi #HappyFriday all, this is an off topic post. I was desiring a vintage singer sewing machine for almost a year and realized that the rare black-gold embellished style is rare and pricey.  I have great faith. My Staten Island sister #GretchenAnthony found one in Rochester, NY. This was for anyone who would actually use it and not sell it. I ended up with it. I am in love with this company. My reason for this desire is that the new computerized sewing machines are mainly plastic components and one usually has to mail it to be fixed. Because I have been sewing for over 40 years, I have had quite a few different machines. I have had a guy come to my house for over 20 years with no worries. He cannot fix the modern ones and he always had to order parts which meant waiting for it to come no machine. Anyway I got me a Singer 15-91 made in 1948 and I am in awe of the workmanship and quality of the stitches. This is a straight stitch that does zigzag, button holes, blind hem.

We are talking Corsets/Bustier

This item was designed by the Caucasus tribe to show off a woman's breast in late 1500's.

Later cups were added to be worn with the farthingale (the wide bottom skirts).

This garment was later made with cups. the designed was transformed to be worn by young girls thru their wedding night and would take the new groom an enormous amount of time to undo the up to 50 eyelets of lacing.Because of the restricted idea of this garment it in later years it fell out of favor  with the neuveux  riche.

Modern bustiers are often made with mesh panels rather than the tradition.al boning.

Image 3 is an idea of how far this garment has come. its now being worn for fashion and not a tradition of conformity.

"The Wire"

The Wire Bra

The wire bra was designed in the 1500's

to restrain women's breast.

"weird", I thought, "as men always find 

a way to restrain us." Disclaimer no designer's

name was credited with this design.

In 1893 MarieTuex coined the wire bra as a 

breast supporter.

By 1907, the word Bra made its way to mainstream.

In 1912 Oxford Dictionary officially

accepted the word Brassiere as propper.

It would not be until 1913 when the Warner Lingerie company would accept a design by Marie Phelps as the standard bra construction that we know today. Even more astounding, is that it would take another 15 years to assign sizes A-D to this construction. 15 years with the same bra! Are you nuts?

The thong was first created as a

novelty item in 1939.  "

Mayor LaGuardia in his wisdom to create

 some sort of modesty directed the 

parlour dancers to cover up "wear undies

The ladies chose to wear this novelty item.

Thus bringing the new panty design main stream.

No designer accepted credit for the panties.

 In 1974 designer #RudiGernreich was

 the first designer to accept credit for this design.
